The Fostering Team

Children may need of foster care for a variety of reasons, and the duration of their stay can vary widely.

Whether it’s short-term support, a long-term nurturing environment, or immediate emergency care, we offer a range of options tailored to meet the unique needs of every child and every caregiver.

Long term

Long term fostering is caring for a young person until they reach adulthood. This type of fostering is especially for those children where a return to their birth family is not possible. This fostering option provides children with the essential stability and relationship-building experiences needed for their growth and development. It is a popular choice for dedicated carers as it allows them to watch and actively encourage the long-term development of their foster child.

Our dedicated team are trained to carefully match a young person with foster carers to ensure a healthy and stable relationship over time.

Parent & Child

During Parent and Child placements, foster carers provide a nurturing home for parents and their young children undergoing assessments. The primary goal is to maintain the bond between parents and their children while offering support and guidance during their parenting journey.

Throughout the placement, foster carers actively participate in assessing parents by observing and documenting their interactions. This hands-on approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the parent’s strengths and areas where support may be needed.

Our Parent and Child scheme is specialised, our foster carers receive additional training, support, and allowances to reflect the added demand of these placements.

Short Term Respite

Short term placements are flexible and can last anywhere from a few days to a few years depending on the needs of the child.

There is sometimes the potential for short-term placements to transition into long-term placements depending on the needs of the child.

For a shorter duration, respite care provides support to foster children already in long-term or short- term placements. This allows their primary caregivers the time they need to attend to personal matters while ensuring the continued well-being of the child.

Enhanced Placements

Some young people have unique needs and require extra support. Enhanced placements are designed to ensure both the foster carer and the young person are supported and valued.

Our foster carers providing enhanced care receive personalised therapeutic inspired support packages.

This can include 1:1 supervision, access to support groups and therapy as well as additional allowance payments.

Emergency

Many children need foster carer due to an emergency in their family. During this time, foster carers can provide a safe and supportive home for a child in a vulnerable situation. Because of the nature of these placements, they are often organised with short-notice and can last as long as the child’s situation continues.
