Fostering provides the opportunity to help children who need a stable and loving environment. It can become a full-time career that provides for you financially and fulfils you emotionally. Foster carers receive payments to cover the costs associated with caring for a child. This support is more than just pocket money—they are payments to enable carers to dedicate themselves fully to the children in their care.
The payments you receive can vary based on factors such as the number of children you’re fostering, their ages, and their specific needs. This can be a substantial and stable income, making fostering a viable career option.
What payments are available?
Our foster carers receive two payments per week for their role, along with additional payments at specific times.
Basic Maintenance Allowance
The basic maintenance allowance is the primary form of financial support. These payments intends to cover the day-to-day costs of caring for a child, such as:
- Food and Groceries: Ensuring that the child has nutritious meals.
- Clothing: Buying clothes, shoes, and other necessary items.
- School Supplies: Covering the cost of books, uniforms, and other educational materials.
- Transportation: Including costs associated with taking the child to school, appointments, or extracurricular activities.
Payment for Fostering
We also pay foster carers for providing the fostering service, and this payment is considered more like a salary
Additional Allowances
These additional allowances are provided during special occasions. These can include religious holidays and birthdays. These payments help cover the costs of gifts, special meals, and other festivities.
If you’re passionate about helping children and you’re looking for a career that offers personal fulfilment and financial stability, fostering could be the perfect path for you. It’s a job that challenges you, rewards you, and, most importantly, allows you to make a lasting difference in the world. The financial support provided by The Fostering Team can be enough to serve as a primary income.
